Fundraising Ideas Basketball
Before deciding on your next basketball
fundraiser, check out some of our free
sports fundraising articles at
IDonateToCharity.org, stocked full of
great
fundraising ideas for basketball,
soccer, football, and other sports
teams.
Here are some easy fundraising ideas
for basketball teams that can help
your team or league raise the money it
needs for equipment, uniforms, league
management, and other needs.
By checking out fundraising product
companies online, you can purchase
basketball themed scratch off cards to
use for your fundraiser. With these
cards, team members ask potential
supporters to scratch off two spots on
the card and donate the amounts they’ve
scratched.
Spinners are similar to scratch off
cards, except that donors will spin the
arrow twice and donate the amounts the
arrow lands on. Companies that offer
spinner fundraisers often have 50 coupon
sheets attached to the spinner. When a
supporter donates money, they are given
a free coupon sheet as a thank you for
their contribution.
Basketball lollipops are a great way to
raise money at basketball games. You
can purchase these online or buy your
own candy molds to create them
yourself. Lollipops cost approximately
25 cents per pop. Sell them at 50 cents
or higher to make 50% or higher profit
on each lollipop you sell!
This is fan
favorite for basketball teams all over
the nation that you can do one time or
during every game all season long. You
can hold this event before the game,
after, or during half-time. Fans can
buy a “free shot” at the basketball hoop
from the three-point line or other
designated spot on the court. Every fan
that makes the shot in the first round
moves to the second round. Everyone who
makes it in the second round goes to the
third round. Do this until you have a
winner. If no one makes the shot during
a round, let them all shoot again until
at least one person makes it. Offer the
winner of this competition a fun prize,
such as a free family dinner at a local
pizza restaurant, tickets to an
amusement park, and so forth.
Registration Time Fundraiser
Holding a simple fundraising activity
during registration is a great way to
earn quick donations before the season
even begins! There are few different
ways you can accomplish this.
One way is to add a fundraising fee to
the cost of registration. Once parents
have paid and registered their child for
the team, you hand them a box of candy
bars or other items being used for sales
to raise money. The parent and/or team
player will then sell the products and
give the money they’ve raised back to
the team’s manager, who will then
reimburse them for the fundraising fee
they paid at the time of registration.
Another way to raise money during
registration is to offer an inexpensive
product that parents and/or team members
can purchase at the time of
registration. Inform them that all
proceeds are going to the team or league
and kindly ask them to donate.
You can also hold a simple registration
event in which parents and players
participate in a luncheon, pool party,
pizza party, or other event. Charge an
admittance fee, ask for donations, or
hold a special raffle or other easy
event that will bring in donations.
You can sell foam hands, pom poms,
flags, or other items with the team
colors, name, and/or mascot printed on
them. These are wonderful, easy sellers
during or before basketball games that
encourage team spirit.
